Development Coordinator, USA

Classification: Full Time, exempt
Location: Remote, the role is home-based with regular meetings with the Development Director (UK) Development Manager (UK); must be located in an Eastern time zone and able to work hours of 8AM-4PM, ET

Salary Band: Coordinator
Salary: The transparent, formula-based salary range for this position is approximately $32,000 to $42,000. The salary offered will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors.
Benefits: Full coverage of vision, dental and life, FSA option and an up to $400 for individuals/$600 for families stipend for ACA coverage; 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, and 6 paid holidays plus the week of Christmas - New Years.

About the role
The role of the Development Coordinator is to support our Development Team in stewarding a variety of donors, growing our network of supporters, including developing and implementing digital fundraising campaigns and ensuring accurate recording and reporting of donor and income data. This new role is vital to the growth of our unrestricted income in both the Global and US entities and will focus on building out our stewardship models to improve supporter journeys and build long-lasting relationships with them. It will also be responsible for developing and implementing activity to prospect and engage new audiences, especially digital, securing new supporters and increasing our loyal supporter base to cement unrestricted income generation across individual giving, regular giving and peer to peer fundraising.

This role will work closely with a US-based Development Manager and the UK-based Development Director. Therefore, it is important that the Development Coordinator be flexible and willing to occasionally work later hours to ensure the Development Team is coordinated and supported. The person taking on this role should be prepared to build upon our existing systems and processes, while maintaining strong attention to detail and executing exceptional communication skills to ensure the success of the organisation’s fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Execute high-quality donor acknowledgment and stewardship, including (but not limited to)
    • Thanking and stewarding donations for all donors who donate through the website, mail, workplace giving, direct debits
    • Thanking and stewarding Facebook and other peer to peer platform fundraisers
    • Owning the end-to-end thanking process to ensure all pieces are actioned and every supporter receives a timely and sincere thank you message
  • Draft and deliver specific mass stewardship communications to one off and regular givers throughout the year
  • Develop, plan and implement acquisition activity, including digital campaigns; planning and drafting campaign-related communications, supporting the team to secure partnerships and stewarding campaign supporters
  • Monitor and manage the Global Giving and USA Giving inboxes and respond promptly to messages
  • Be the team lead for the Development Team on Salesforce (CRM database), ensuring that donations, donor data and stewardship communications are recorded to a high standard and the team can use these records to monitor and report on all income streams
  • Ensure the thanking, recording and stewardship processes are regularly up-to-date and carried out to a high standard with attention to detail
  • Work closely with the rest of the small Development and Communications teams to provide a excellent and timely support to all donors and supporters

Person Specifications

  • Has at least 2 years of relevant experience within an organisation of a similar or applicable size and model
  • Knowledgeable in some fundraising areas including best practices and current trends, with commitment to the high ethical and professional standards
  • Experienced in donor stewarding and the creation and delivery of campaigns, including digital
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail while managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to work efficiently and independently as well as collaborate effectively with others
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive, positive attitude with sound judgment, flexibility, determination, and good humor within a young and growing team and organisation
  • Acts a supportive external ambassador of the organisation that represents T1I to external supporters in a positive and welcoming manner
  • Has a commitment to and knowledge of health policy and socio-economic issues, and a strong understanding of intersectionality, racial justice, and gender equity and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Passionate about patient issues and the need to bring the patient voice to the forefront
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to centering racial equity and inclusion into fundraising practices and organizational culture
  • Excels with online tools including Google Workspace, social media, and database programs, including working knowledge and experience with Salesforce, desirable

Hours and Expectations

  • T1I is a purely remote office environment; you should be prepared to either work from home or a location of your choosing.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues and advocates who are based across the US and the UK in a variety of time zones.
  • The role requires flexibility as there are several monthly meetings and calls with team members or supporters on weeknights and very occasionally, on weekends.
