Salary Band: The transparent, formula-based salary range for this position is approximately $45,000 to $52,000. The salary offered will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors.
Benefits: Full coverage of vision, dental and life, and up to $600 family stipend ($400 for individuals) for ACA coverage; 15 vacation days, 10 sick days, and 9 paid holidays plus the week of Christmas - New Years.

About T1International
T1International (T1I) is an international, patient-led non-profit run by people with and impacted by type 1 diabetes for people with type 1 diabetes. We do not accept funding from the pharmaceutical industry or any medical device manufacturer to maintain our independence and ability to speak out freely. T1International was founded in the UK in 2013 and became a registered 501(c)(3) at the end of 2019. Currently, T1International has four team members in the US and three team members in the UK, with the aim to soon have eight in the US and six in the UK.

T1I is leading the charge in the fight for affordable insulin and supplies worldwide. T1I and T1I USA are both purely remote teams, with staff throughout the United States and abroad. T1I is a remote office environment; you will collaborate with colleagues and advocates who are based across the US and the UK.

About the Role
T1I is seeking a Program Coordinator to help provide ongoing programmatic and administrative support to the US team and our volunteer groups (known as Chapters). This is a new role at T1International, taking on work previously shared by the team and informed by a recent assessment of our organizational needs. The position will work closely with the US team and report to the Advocacy Managers. The Program Coordinator will act as the first point of contact for our 38 and growing state Chapters across the US.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and Develop Systems and Tools to Meet Chapter Needs: Take the lead on refining systems, processes and tools that promote more efficient workflows and more user-friendly communication with Chapters through:
    • Facilitate and Coordinate Virtual Leadership Orientation and Offboarding
    • Coordinate Monthly Leader, Lead, and Working Group Meetings and Calls through supporting the planning and execution of agendas with Advocacy Managers and Policy Manager
    • Communicate with Chapter Leaders, Leads, and Advocates and direct them to appropriate support and resources
    • Create, update and refine Standard Operating Procedures and other protocols for Advocacy and Chapter tasks
  • Resource Creation and Education
    • Research and provide background information to support education and leadership development on topics requested by Advocacy Managers and volunteers
    • Draft educational materials, resources, action alerts, and newsletters, etc, in coordination and with guidance from the Communications team
    • Assist with policy research, as needed
  • Project Management, Reporting and Administrative Supports:
    • Prepare reports on engagement and outreach activities and outcomes via Salesforce and other internal tracking systems
    • Lead the development of the Chapter Administrative Lead position supporting Chapters to strengthen their administrative and operational systems
    • Assist Operations Manager with operations/administrative related projects and tasks
    • Assist Development Manager with fundraising/administrative related projects and tasks
    • Lead on special projects, based on needs of organization and individual skill set and interest
    • Lead and participate in internal and external meetings and activities, as requested
  • Other
    • Advance T1I’s equity and inclusion commitments by engaging in ongoing racial justice competency building workshops, participating in internal equity meetings, and bringing a focus on antiracism to volunteer work and with colleagues
    • Other duties, as assigned

Person Specifications

  • 1-3 years administrative support experience, preferably in non-profits
  • Direct personal experience with diabetes as a patient, caregiver, parent, ally, etc from a community that is underrepresented in the diabetes space preferred
  • Strong understanding of the lived experience, including management, treatment, terminology and impacts, of type 1 diabetes (and other types of diabetes); and a passion for patient issues and the need to bring the patient voice to the forefront
  • Attentive to detail and trusted to maintain a high level of authority and autonomy in managing multiple projects completely and accurately
  • Demonstrates strong volunteer/stakeholder management skills, including but not limited to: exceptional interpersonal skills, including an ability to form groups and navigate and resolve conflict in a manner that values and respects relationships with colleagues and volunteers inside and outside T1International
  • Able to work efficiently and independently as well as collaborate effectively with others
  • Committed to and experienced in centering racial equity and inclusion
  • Ability to help implement new policies, procedures, and systems that help start-up organizations or new teams to function effectively
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills; keen attention to detail; ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects at various stages of completion with minimal direct supervision
  • Is able to prioritize, work independently with deadlines and goals, think critically, and problem-solve with good, independent judgement
  • Good problem-solving skills and a positive, ‘let’s make this work’ attitude with sound judgment, flexibility, determination, and good humor within a young and growing team and organization

Hours and expectations:

  • T1I is a purely remote office environment; you should be prepared to either work from home or a location of your choosing.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues and advocates who are based across the US and the UK in a variety of time zones.
  • The role requires flexibility as there are several monthly meetings and calls with team members or supporters on weeknights and very occasionally, on weekends.
  • As a small, growing team, it’s possible that role titles and/or supervisor may change as we refine roles and duties.
