T1International’s South Africa #insulin4all Chapter is a community of people living with diabetes, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and supporters working together to make diabetes care more affordable and accessible for everyone.
The chapter advocates for equitable access to insulin, diabetes technology, and quality healthcare while creating opportunities for people living with diabetes to connect, share their experiences, and become advocates for change. By bringing together community voices, South Africa #insulin4all is helping build a stronger movement for diabetes justice.
What We’re Working On
The South Africa #insulin4all Chapter works to raise awareness of the challenges people with diabetes face, advocate for policies that improve access to essential medicines, and strengthen patient leadership across the country. Chapter members have participated in global advocacy campaigns, shared stories highlighting the realities of living with diabetes in South Africa, and continue to support efforts that put people living with diabetes at the center of decision-making.
Who leads this group
Ernest
Ernest is proud to be the Chapter Leader for the T1International South Africa Chapter. His journey in diabetes advocacy began with his own diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes at the age of six. His passion for advocacy grew when he became involved with Diabetes South Africa as a Youth Camp Director. More recently, his advocacy has focused on challenging diabetes stigma.
As Chapter Leader, he hopes to amplify the voices of people living with Type 1 diabetes in South Africa, challenge stigma, raise awareness, and advocate for equitable access to insulin, healthcare, education, and dignity for all.
